1928-2014 Viviane Gagnon, 85, of Farmington, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington. She was born in 1928 in Lewiston the daughter of Juliet Bellemore and raised by Honore and Lucia (Dube) Bouchard. She was educated in the schools of Chisholm and Jay. In 1947 Viviane married Louis Castonguay, who passed in 1966. She later married Norman Gagnon in 1979, he passed in 1990. She was a housewife much of her life but also worked for local shoe shops, including Bass shoe, while raising four children as a single mother. Viviane resided in Wilton since 1980 and retired in 1985. She was a communicant of St. Rose and then St. Joseph Catholic Church, of Jay and Farmington. She enjoyed the outdoors, knitting, sewing, crocheting, reading, crossword puzzles, doing volunteer work at Franklin Memorial Hospital and taking care of people. Viviane is survived by her daughter, Louisette Castonguay, of Farmington; three sons, Denis Castonguay and his wife, Barbie, of Wilton, Michel Castonguay, of Livermore Falls, and Daniel Castonguay, of Hermon; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; six sisters, Sister Marie Stella, C.S.J. (Anita Dube), of Waterville, Mary Jane Edmunds, of Jay, Julienne Shaw, of Carnegie, Pa., Claire Edmunds, of Phillips, Elaine Smith, of St. Hellena, S.C., and Stella Paquette, of Amarillo, Texas; a brother, John Dube, of Jay; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husbands, Louis and Norman; a son, Jean-Charles; a sister, Mary Anne; and five brothers, Gerard, Lionel, Willie, Charles and Andre. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at Adams-McFarlane Funeral & Cremation Services, 108 Court St., Farmington. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2014, at St. Rose of Lima Church, 1 Church St., Jay, with Father LeQuin officiating. A graveside service will take place 10 a.m. on May 10, 2014, at St. Rose Cemetery. Condolences may be sent for the family at www.adamsmcfarlane.com.
