A resident of Daytona Beach for the past 60 years, Vivian Fleming Smith died peacefully at the Hospice Care Center, Port Orange, on May 1, 2007. Mrs. Smith was born May 25, 1918, in Essex Junction, Vt., the daughter of Claude and Florence Fleming. She moved to Daytona Beach in 1946, where she enjoyed many years as an outstanding local artist and member of numerous local organizations including the Museum of Arts and Sciences and the National Audubon Society. Displaying a love and talent for art, gardening and nature, she was the recipient of many awards and honors for her artistic endeavors. A member of the First Christian Church of Daytona Beach, Mrs. Smith was well known for her radiant, welcoming smile. She leaves a legacy of devotion to her family, friends, and the many charitable organizations she supported throughout her life. Preceded in death by her loving husband, Carlton M. Smith, those left to cherish her memory include her cousins, Charlotte Miller, Jacksonville, Jenny McCance, Little Rock, Ark., David Miller, Burlington, Vt., Stephanie McMullon, Temple Terrace, Fla.; nephew, Billy Vick III, South Daytona; and niece, Terry Jean Nordeen, Port Orange, who bothprovided for her care. A memorial service is scheduled May 26, 2007, First Christian Church, 326 S. Palmetto Avenue, Daytona Beach, at 1 p.m.
