DAVIS, Vivian Cooper, 89, of Zephyrhills, formerly of Akron, Ohio, and Strong and El Dorado, Ark., died January 27, 2006, in Dade City. Born October 22, 1916, in Corpus Christi, Texas, she was the daughter of John Edwin Cooper and Golda Ann Nelson Cooper. A retired school teacher, she established the Vivian Cooper Davis Scholarship Fund at Strong High School in 1989 and the Johnny E. Cooper Scholarship Fund at Strong High School in 1991. The Vivian Cooper-Davis Library Media Center was named in 1991 in her honor at Strong High School. She was a member of DAR, UDC and the Zephyrhills Garden Club. Mrs. Davis was a member of Strong United Methodist Church in Strong and First United Methodist Church in Zephyrhills. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, William Davis. She is survived by numerous cousins, including cousin and caregiver, Kevin Nelson. Funeral services for Mrs. Davis will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 31, at the chapel of Young's Funeral Directors, 508 Champagnolle Road, El Dorado, with the Rev. Hugh Nelson officiating, assisted by Robert Nelson and James Willis. Burial will follow at Strong Cemetery.
