Virginia Mary Floyd Wood, 93, widow of William Mathew Wood, went to be with the Lord to celebrate her wedding anniversary on July 1, 2009.Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Rollia Jefferson and Leah Dockery Floyd.Mrs. Wood served in the U.S. Army where she received the American Theater Ribbon Victory Award. She and her husband owned Wood Hardware for fifty years, and she was a member of Dunean Baptist Church.She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn W. Lindsey, of the home; a sister, Ruby Floyd; a brother, Sherman Floyd, both of Greenville; a granddaughter, Mandy Richardson of Easley; grandson, Wade Watkins of Greenville; and three great-grandchildren, Brayden, Ava and Carter.The funeral service will be 3 p.m. Friday, July 3, 2009, at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest chapel, with entombment at Greenville Memorial Gardens. The Myra Parks S.S.
