Chapel funeral services honoring the life of Mrs. Virginia Williams Estes, 86, Gadsden, will be at 3 p.m. today. Mrs. Estes passed away Thursday, May 20, 2010, at her home. The Rev. Alex Beaube will officiate with entombment to follow in Crestwood Cemetery. Services entrusted to Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services.Mrs. Estes was a lifelong resident of Gadsden and graduated from Gadsden High School in 1940. She was a lifelong member of East Gadsden Methodist Church. She was a homemaker who loved her family, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many friends. She enjoyed camping, traveling, and most of all, spending time with family. Virginia and Ray were very active youth supporters in the community youth athletics and church activities. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Ray A. Estes; parents, TR and Nora Williams; and brother, TR "Mickie" Williams Jr.Mrs. Estes is leaving behind to cherish her memory, her daughters, Peggy Patrick and Vicki (Max) Burford; chosen daughter, Cindy (Sam) Brewer; grandchildren, Timi (Lowell) Dooley, Anne Marie (Craig) Bethune, Marty (Ashley) Burford, Kevin (TJ) Burford and Jud Burford; great-grandchildren, Adam (Melissa) Dooley, Lauren Dooley, Samuel Colegrove, Emma Burford, Luke Burford, Lily Burford, Jake Burford, Cale Burford, Eli Burford and Campbell Burford; great-great-grandchildren, Jackson Dooley and William Dooley; and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by fellow church members and lifelong friends of the Berean Sunday School class at East Gadsden Methodist Church and members of Rebel Camping Club.Grandsons and great-grandsons will honor Mrs. Estes as pallbearers.The family wishes to express special gratitude to Amedysis Hospice, Dr. Webb Sledge and staff, Dr. Jason Junkins, and caregivers Mildred Hutchinson, Kim Furhman and Brenda O'Dell.The family requests potted plants or memorials be made to East Gadsden Methodist Church.The family will accept friends from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. today at the funeral home.Condolences may be made at www.collier-butler.com.
