Smith, VirginiaVirginia N. Smith, loving Mother, Grandmother and friend, age 90, a lifelong resident of Fairfield passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side, on Tuesday, August 13, 2013. Virginia's life centered around her love and devotion for her family. Her beautiful, kind and loving heart touched the lives of both family and friends. Everyone she came in contact with cherished her. Virginia worked at Van Doren's nursing home for several years helping with the preparation of meals for the patients. Virginia did volunteer work at St. Pius and in the public schools during the time she raised her family. Virginia enjoyed spending time and traveling with her friends. She later became an active member of the Easton Senior Center and enjoyed her many trips throughout the United States and Europe with a group of friends there. Virginia loved nature and art. She marveled at the birds and flowers around her. She had many artistic talents and enjoyed painting, weaving, rug hooking, quilting, antique collecting, and knitting. Many of her artistic creations were donated to others. Virginia loved walking on the beach, with Sasco Beach being her special spot because of her fond childhood memories. In later years she spent time there with her family and friends. Virginia shall be reunited above with her beloved parents, Hazel Nemeth and Joseph Nemeth and friends that have gone before her. She is survived by her son, James Smith of Maryland, her daughters Joy Gallagher and her husband James Gallagher and Cindy Brauer and her husband Jeffery Brauer, both of Fairfield. Virginia is also survived by her grandchildren, Candace Linnen, Brian Smith and his wife Lyndi, Kristy Smith, James Joseph Gallagher and his wife Caitlin, Heather Brauer, Timothy Brauer and his wife Brittany. Her great grandchildren, Amanda, Kylie, Madison, JR, Jillian, Samantha and Bailey, also survive her. We hold her loving memories close to our hearts.
