SMITH, Virginia Retired Principal Peacefully, Tuesday January 14, 2009 at her home with family by her side in her 90th year. Beloved wife of the late Stephen Smith. Loving mother of Sharon of Toronto, Dan (Susan), Bob (Debbie) of Pembroke and the late Tom. Mother in law of Mary of Maryland, QC. Cherished grandmother of Donna (Curtis), Steve (Sarah), Jodi, Karen and Christine (Mike). Great grandmother of Cassandra, Stephen, Smith, Zoe, Sydney and Lincoln. Daughter of the late Thomas and Laura Sutherland. Dear sister of Doris Lawton, the late Grant Sutherland and Betty Meade. Virginia had a long and fulfilling career with the Ottawa Separate School Board as a teacher and principal. Special thanks to Dr. Francombe and her team for the outstanding support and care. Friends may assemble Friday at St. Maurice Church, 4 Perry St., at Meadowlands, after 10:30 a.m. A Mass in Memory of Mrs. Smith will be held Friday in St. Maurice's Church at 11:30 a.m. In Memoriam donations to: Palliative Care Outreach Program ( www.palliativeoutreach.org ) appreciated.
