NISKAYUNA Virginia R. Williams, 84, of Carrie Court, died Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at Ellis Hospital. Mrs. Williams was born in Schenectady and was a lifelong area resident. She was a graduate of Scotia Glenville High School and Russell Sage College, receiving a bachelor's and master's degree. Mrs. Williams worked for the former Carl Company as a buyer and later for the National Bureau of Labor and Statistics. Subsequently, she was a school teacher at Glencliff in the Niskayuna School District. Mrs. Williams was a member of the Grace Chapel in Clifton Park. She did volunteer work for the Schenectady County Public Library and was a member of the Rexford Women's Art Group. Mrs. Williams was predeceased by her husband, Clifford H. Williams; he died in 1992; and a brother, Robert R. Mitchell. She is survived by one son, Stephen R. Williams and his wife Laura of Calif.; two daughters, Charlotte W. Mack and her husband Howard of Glenville and Joan E. Durgin and her husband John of Pa.; 11 grandchildren, Meredith, Elizabeth, Daniel, Seth and Benjamin Williams, Virginia and Andrew Mack, Paul, Joy, Amy and Kitty Durgin and one great-grandchild; one sister-in-law, Susan Mitchell of Cambridge, N.Y.; one cousin, Ruth Turner of Niskayuna. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service which will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 3:00 at the Grace Chapel, Main Street, Clifton Park. Calling hours will be Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 at the Gleason Funeral Home, 730 Union Street, Schenectady. Interment will be in the Jonesville Cemetery.
