Virginia R. Dawson, 89, of West Frankfort passed away at 7:40 a.m. Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at Herrin Hospital. She was born December 12, 1920 on Cedar Hill East of West Frankfort, to Marshall Willis and Eva (Maddox) Willis. She married Wayne Dawson on August 7, 1965 in Benton, Il.. Survivors include her husband, Wayne Dawson of West Frankfort; two sons, Ferrell and Mae Avery of West Frankfort and Gary and Sherry Avery of Thompsonville; two daughters, Marsha and Bob Branca of Herrin and Lou Ellen and Ryan Forrest of Boerne, Texas; ten grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandson; and one step son, Mark and Wendy Dawson of Mustang, Ok.. She was preceded in death by her parents, two grandsons, Ryan Forrest and Robby Branca, three brothers, Oscar, Artie and Howard Willis, and by 3 sisters, Evelyn Clem, Ruby Reed and Pearl Rumsey. She was a member of the Heights Church of God in West Frankfort. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 4, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Heights Church of God 1418 East Clark Street in West Frankfort with Rev. Joe Daniels officiating. Burial will be in the Denning Cemetery in West Frankfort. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the Heights Church of God in West Frankfort.
