Moore, Virginia M.Apr. 13, 1911 - Feb. 2, 2014Virginia M. Moore, longtime resident of the Venice-Nokomis area passed away Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014. Virginia was born in Alton, IL, April 13, 1911. She married Thomas Moore on Feb. 12, 1932 in Minneapolis, MN. She was involved in Eastern Star and served as Worthy Matron together with her husband as Worthy Patron in 1950. They moved to Sioux Falls, SD, Charlotte, NC, Sioux City, IA before returning to Minneapolis and retiring in 1969. Locating in Nokomis, FL, Virginia became active in golf at Lake Venice Golf Course and then Myakka Pines Golf Course, playing on the Women's Inner-City Golf league. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing bridge with many different groups of friends.Virginia was a 50 plus year member of PEO sisterhood and a charter member of FL chapter DU, an active member of Venice-Nokomis Woman's Club and of V-N United Methodist Church. Her wisdom, wit and wonderful sense of humor will be missed by all who knew and loved her.Virginia is survived by her daughter, Margaret (Peggy) Graff, Venice; 3 grandsons, Gordon III, Thomas (Cathy) and Jon (Wendy); 5 great grandchildren (James, Gordon IV, Kimberly, Ethan and Nicholas) and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Thomas R. Moore.Services will be held on April 12, 2014 at Venice-Nokomis United Methodist Church, 208 Palm Ave, Nokomis, FL 34275 as a "Celebration of Life" to celebrate her 103rd birthday. Burial will be private.
