JONES, Virginia M., PhD, ""Ginger"", was born October 21, 1946, in Balti-more, Maryland and passed away Monday, August 15, 2005 of leuke-mia. She grew up in Birmingham, Alabama; upon graduation from John Carroll High School, she en-tered Sacred Heart Convent. While there, she obtained an under-graduate degree from Benedictine College. After leaving the convent, she went on to obtain both a Mas-ter's Degree and a Doctorate from Georgia State University. Since 1981, she has served as a professor of English and Humanities at Ala-bama State University. Ginger served as a docent for the Mont-gomery Art Museum and was a member of Leadership Montgom-ery. She is survived by her sisters, Leslie (Hugh) Taylor of Birmingham, AL, Nancy (Keith) Parkhouse and Judy (Joe) Cobb, both of Atlanta, GA; as well as seven nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Lester and Virginia Jones. The family extends thanks to her dear friend, Mary Skipper and her Hospice caregivers, Cathy Hoots, for their loving care and to her many friends who have loved and supported her throughout her life, especially these past few months. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 17, 2005, at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Montgomery, AL. The family will receive friends, Tuesday, August 16, 2005, from 5-7 p.m. at Al-abama Heritage Funeral Home in Montgomery. Family and friends will reassemble for the graveside services at Southern Heritage, Bir-mingham, AL, Wednesday, August 17, 2005, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Virginia's name to Sa-cred Heart Convent, 916 Convent Road, N.E., Cullman, AL 35055 or you favorite charity.
