DECATUR Virginia L. Smith, age 91, of Decatur, died Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at Decatur General Hospital. Services were held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Mitchell Williams and the Rev. Jon Clotfelter officiating. Burial followed in Roselawn Cemetery with Roselawn Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Smith was born July 5, 1917, in Leoma, Tenn. to William and Lily Pearl Copeland Lumpkins.She was preceded in death by her husband, Grad Smith, and one son, Ron Smith. Survivors include one daughter, Brenda Bartholomew and her husband Bill of Decatur; one son, Jeff Smith and his wife Liz of Waterloo, Iowa; two sisters, Frances Headrick of Leoma, Tenn. and Susie Davis of Lawrenceburg, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Sean Smith, Ward Smith, Dwain Smith, Doug Van Zyl, Parker Van Zyl and David Bates. A special thanks to the staff at Decatur Health and Rehabilitation.
