SMITH, Virginia Brown Pratt, 94, of Zephyrhills, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2009. She was born March 31, 1915, in Toledo, Ohio to the late Baye (Blankley) and Gaylord Brown. She had lived in Hanover, Pa. until retiring to Florida. Virginia was preceded in death by her husbands, Harold Pratt and Claude Smith; her parents; and sister, Phyllis. She is survived by her sons, Dennis H. (Carol) Pratt of Warwick, R.I. and Gregory G. (Joan) Pratt of Peoria, Ariz.; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces; and a nephew. Virginia and her husband, Harold owned and operated Pratt' s Music Studios in Hanover for many years. Virginia was cofounder and member of the "Hawaiian Sharps," who were well known throughout the mid-Atlantic states. They often raised funds for war bonds and various charities. Before her retirement to Florida, Virginia was a loyal employee for many years at Rea & Derick Drug Store. The family extends their thanks to the staff at Edwinola and Gulfside Hospice, Dade City, Fla. Friends may call 2-4 p.m. Sunday, at Hodges Family Funeral Home, 36327 Hwy 54, Zephyrhills. Graveside services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday, at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Pompano Beach, Fla.
