VIRGINIA B. SMITH TRUMANSBURG - Virginia B. Smith, 90, of Delray Beach, FL and formerly of Trumansburg, NY, died on October 31, 2007. Ginny came on this earth during a very turbulent time in our country's history. She acquired her indomitable spirit growing up with her brother and mother during the depression. She worked her way through college (University of Washington) while living on a houseboat. Upon graduation, Ginny fulfilled a lifetime dream and became a pilot. With WWII close approaching, she joined the Red Cross and was stationed in Europe for two years. Her unit was attached to the 9th Air Force, and it was here that she met her future husband, Carl. The next 30 years she rotated a teaching career and child rearing. In addition to her husband, she is survived by five children, Eric Smith (Maria) of Chester Springs, PA, Dana Smith (Roxanne) of Trumansburg, NY, Paul Smith (Robin) of Bend, OR, Mike Smith (LaJuana) of Los Angeles, CA, Beth Lambert (Mike) of Eugene, OR; and numerous grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, William Bachelor (Ione) of Los Angeles, CA. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, 840 George Bush Blvd., Delray Beach on Saturday, November 10th, at 1:00 p.m. Entombment will take place at a later date in Trumansburg, NY.
