DUNCANVILLE Victoria Virginia Johnson, age 87, of Duncanville, died Dec. 8, 2008, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Kenny Overstreet officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Johnson; sister, Hazel Glazner; and her son, Alton Johnson and Teresa Cooley McCullough.Survivors include her daughters, Betty Jean Cooley (Wilford), Katie Lou Dockery (Dawson) and Mary Frances Deason; her brother, Grady Wilburn Pearson (Beatrice); her grandchildren, Jo Lynn Petty, Alton Johnson, Jr., Cindy Hall, Kevin Dockery, Jeffery Cooley, Roxanne Monday, Anthony Foley, and Angela Johnson; and 13 great grandchildren.She was born April 17th, 1921, in Tuscaloosa County. She was married to Clyde Johnson for 63 years. She was a lifelong member of Liberty Baptist Church where she served the children at VBS Koolaid and cookies as long as she was able. She loved gardening and sewing, especially baby quilts. She loved people and received great joy in helping everyone.Pallbearers will be Anthony Foley, Clint Hall, Kevin Dockery, Jeffery Cooley, Jeremy Cooley, Brad McCullough, and alternates, Foster Bell and Tommy Hall.Honorary pallbearers are Becky Long, Martha Blake, George Dockery, Dot and Gillie Dockery, Jan Simmons, Ruth Causey, Lucille and Jim Colburn, Tom Nixon, Bonnie and Harvey Dockery, Tami Jo Overstreet, Wilma Fondren, John and Minerva Tatum, Estelle Hubbard, Beth Brown, Trent Roberts, Amedisys nurses, Dr. Jennifer Burdette, Dr. J. Wallace, nurses of DCH Wound Center, and the friends and neighbors of Duncanville and Liberty communities.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Liberty Baptist Church.
