WAYNESBORO, Ga. - Mrs. Verrel Johnson Moore of Waynesboro, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at University Hospital, in Augusta, Georgia. Funeral services will be held at New Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Augusta, Georgia at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, December 12, 2009 with Reverend Moses D. Anderson officiating. The body will lie in state prior to service. Burial will follow at Historic First Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery, Hephzibah Georgia. Visitation will be Friday, December 11, 2009 from 7:00p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Phinazee & Sons Funeral Home, West Eighth Street, Waynesboro, Georgia 30830, Waynesboro, Georgia. Verrel was born on Friday, February 18, 1938 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of the late Deacon Dave Bryant and Eloise Hudson. At the age of 13, Verrel accepted Christ into her heart and was baptized by the late Reverend J.D. Williams at First Ebenezer Baptist Church of Hephzibah, Georgia. She loved the Lord and willingly served Him faithfully. Verrel was a graduate of Lucy Craft Laney's Class of 1955. She was a graduate of Paine College. She worked for 33Ú years in the education systems of Chicago and Georgia; retiring from the Burke Country Board of Education . She was a dedicated member of Alpha Pi Chi Sorority, Incorporation. Survivors includes two daughters- Mrs. Cynthia Johnson Walker of Harvey, Louisiana, and Mrs. Lisa L. (David) Gates of Waynesboro, GA; two sisters - Margarette Peggy Berry of Philadelphia, Pa, and Deborah (Jackie) Campbell of Hartsville, SC; two sister-in-laws - Annie Mae Nelson and Inez Burch of Augusta, GA; two aunts - Angie Lee Bryant of Hephzibah, GA; and Mildred Wilson of Pomona, CA. Nine grandchildren: - Joshua Walker, Keith Grace, Tabitha Walker, David Gates; Camilla (Jeremy) Edwards, LaDarrien Gates, Michelle (Mia) Walker, Knyieko Addison, Dasani Gates; three great-grandchildren - Charles Grace, Jr., Jeremy Edwards, Jr., and Shuniah (Lil Vera) Gates; a devoted cousin - John Berry; eight God-children - Audrey Cummings; Loretta Johnson, Dominique Jenkins, Carlton Larkins; Edith Bush; Erika Jenkins; Deryus Tillman; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, Church Members, and friends.
