Sept. 30, 1925 - March 11, 2011 Mrs. Verna Mae Potter Bell passed away Friday at Highlands Health and Rehab at the age of 85. Mrs. Bell is survived by her daughter, Wanda Connally and husband Paul of Skyline; sons, Danny Bell and wife Cindy of Skyline, and Jerry Bell, residing in Mexico; daughter-in-law, Kathy Bell of Fyffe; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grand-children; brothers, Rayford Potter of Scottsboro, and Hugh Potter and wife Pat of Skyline; sister, Evelyn Burns and husband Joe of Rainbow City; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Bell was preceded in death by her husband, J.R. Bell; son, Thomas Bell; granddaughters, Regina Bell and Tish Gamble; and parents, Benton and Irene Potter. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Scottsboro Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. David Smith and the Rev. Jesse Guinn officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
