BROWN _ Verna Florence (nee Moxley) Passed away peacefully at the Mayfair Care Centre in Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 90 years. She was born in Ottawa, Ontario on August 30, 1918. She married Frank Brown, a soldier from Didsbury, Alberta, on June 29, 1945, in Ottawa. One year later they moved west to Alberta, where they settled and raised their family. Verna will be sadly missed by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Sherylle and Ken Embree of Port Coquitlam, B.C.; Donna and Gordon Smith of Calgary, Alberta; and Cindy and Gerhard Wiens of Winnipeg, Manitoba; her three grandchildren Shannon (and James) Hennig, Kevin Smith and Makara Wiens, along with other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Frank in 1999, her brother Thomas Moxley and two sisters, Beatrice Quigg and Elsie Currie, and her mother Florence Moxley. Verna was a very faithful and loving wife, mother and friend. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Bethany Airdrie, the Airdrie Home Care nurses, Dr. Philip De Waal, and the Mayfair Care Centre staff for their excellent and compassionate care. A Memorial Service in Verna's honor will be held at the Bethel Evangelical Missionary Church, 124 - 4 Avenue South, Three Hills, Alberta on Saturday, November 22, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Verna's name to Samaritan's Purse, 20 Hopewell Way N.E., Calgary, AB T3J 5H5.
