Verla Mae Mullins Whitaker, 66, Berry, Ky., died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013, at her home.She was born in Gallatin County, Ky. on March 21, 1947, and was a daughter of the late Virgil and Edna Mae Stevens Mullins. For 29 years she worked as a state registered nursing assistant at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Cynthiana, attended the Berry United Methodist Church, and she loved her family.She was preceded in death by her son, Ricky Rae Mulwee on May 28, 2012, and two brothers, Gerald and Burrial Mullins.Survivors include: her husband, Layne Whitaker; her daughter, Debbie ""Sissie"" (David) Hadden of Berry; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her sister, Della Nolen of Madison, Ind.; her two brothers, Jay Mullins of Glencoe, Ky. and Vernon Mullins of Dry Ridge, Ky.; and a host of extended family and friends.Funeral services was held Saturday, Dec. 28 at Woodhead Funeral Home, Berry, with Pastor Mike Barres and Bro.
