Velma Lee Owens Norris, 72, of 105 Maple View Court, widow of William Carlton Norris, died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2003, at Palmetto Health Baptist. Born in Greenville, Mrs. Norris was a daughter of Alma Moore Sweet of Pickens and the late Frank Owens. Mrs. Norris was retired from Dan River Textiles, but worked in the nursing field before and after her retirement from the textile industry. She was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her mother, Mrs. Norris is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David and Minnie Norris, of Easley; three daughters and sons-in-law, Gail Greene and James Powell, and Sandra and Jerry Pilgrim, all of Liberty, and Dianna and Jerry Massey, of Norris; 18 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Norris was predeceased by a son, George Warren Norris. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., today, at the Robinson Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Robert Kelley officiating. Burial will be at Abbott Cemetery. Pallbearers will be the grandsons. The family is at the home of a daughter: Sandra Pilgrim, 929 Breazeale Road, Liberty.
