Velma Maydelle Moore, 87, died March 9, 2008, in Sebring. She was born in Stony Bottom, W.Va., and lived in Stuart from 1949 to 1985, when she moved to Arcadia. She was a resident of Sebring since 2003. Prior to retirement, she was a registered nurse and had also worked in a beauty shop. She was also a den mother, a 4-H sponsor and a Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the Stuart Women's Club and the Congregational Church of Palm City; she was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Arcadia and St. John United Methodist Church in Sebring. Survivors include her husband, Floyd E. Moore of Sebring; daughter, Judy Brown of Sebring; son, Kenneth Moore of New Castle-Upon-Tyne, UK; sister, Maxine Foe of Cass, W.Va.; brother, John Shinaberry of White Sulpur Springs, W.Va.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. SERVICES: Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. March 15 at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home in Sebring. A service will follow at the funeral home at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Ron DeGenaro officiating. Interment at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Avon Park, will be immediately following the service.
