Funeral service for Velma Golden Smith, 78, will be Friday, February 3, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Midway Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. Burial will be at Midway Memory Gardens Cemetery. Ms. Smith died Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at her residence. She was a native and life-long resident of Talladega. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack G. Smith; one son-in-law, Ricky Trammell; her parents, William and Lucille Golden; one sister, Lillie Mae Fain; and one brother, William Paul Golden. She was survived by one daughter, Delma Trammell of Talladega; five sons, Roger (Patty) Smith, Craig (Renee) Smith, Randy (Kathy) Smith, and Larry (Sharron) Smith all of Talladega, and Jeffrey (Toni) Smith of Georgia; 16 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and a special friend, Jewell Reeves. Pallbearers will be Daniel Smith, Dylan Ferrell, Mike Reeves, Roy Dial Jr., Will May, A. J. Fain III, Scotty Smith and Eric Trammell. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
