VIRGIE LEE BOLIN, 98 BLAIRSVILLE, GA. - Mrs. Virgie Lee Bolin, age 98, a resident of Blairsville, Georgia, and former resident of Auburndale, Florida, went peacefully due to natural causes, to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 10, 2012 in the afternoon, at the Stonehenge Assisted Living Facility in Blairsville, where she had been receiving tender and loving care over the past three years. Mrs. Bolin was born December 28, 1913, in Lauderdale County, Alabama to James Edward and Louisa Sarah Jane (Swinney) Hill. Before moving to Blairsville, Virgie had lived in Florence, Alabama until her marriage and then they moved to Auburndale, Florida. She packed citrus fruit for Adams packing Company for 43 years, later working for Griffin Gift Citrus. During the early 1940's she worked one summer in Oak Ridge, Tennessee on a secret military weapon production line. She loved reading all her life, passing that love along to her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and her great great grandchildren. She was a member of the Lena Vista Baptist Church in Auburndale where she also served as a Sunday school teacher. She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 40 years Thomas Bolin (1971); 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Virgie is survived by her loving and devoted family: 2 daughters: Patsy Bolin (Bill) Whatley of Blairsville, GA, Carlene Bolin (Don) Jernigan of Cedar Park, TX, 7 grandchildren: Sandi Whatley (Paul) Richardson of Blairsville, GA, Mike Whatley of New Hope, PA, Trish Whatley (James) Efird of Clemmons, NC, Bill (Gail) Whatley, Jr. of Brooksville, FL, Christy Jernigan Bloomingdale of Austin, TX, Cindy Jernigan Phillips of Austin, TX, Cheryl Jernigan (Bud) Bailey of Philadelphia, PA, 15 great grandchildren, 15 great great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Virgie was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother and friend. She was loved by those who knew her and dearly missed by all of us, including the staff and residents of Stonehenge Building 3, for whom she always had a sweet smile and a wave of her hand. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, June 16, 2012 at the Kersey Funeral Home, 108 East Lake Stella Dr., Auburndale. Interment will follow at the Auburndale Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Friday, June 15, 2012 from 6:00 till 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
