V. Josephine Leaman Williams, 82 SOUTH PORTLAND -- V. Josephine Leaman Williams, 82, of South Portland, formerly of Deer Island, New Brunswick, Canada and Seadrift, Texas, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2008. She was born Feb. 16, 1926, in Rockport, Texas, to the late Walter Charles and Verna Lee Ives Gray. She is predeceased by husband, Douglas Leaman on Dec. 15, 1971; and husband, John Williams on July 24, 1990. Jo attended Rockport schools in Rockport, Texas, where in high school she was a member of the cheerleading squad. She devoted herself to home and family throughout her life. She enjoyed reading, swimming, dancing, watching football, traveling and doing charity work. Jo will be remembered as a gentle, compassionate and gracious 'southern lady' who treated everyone with respect and kindness. She entertained friends and family by reading tea leaves, very often accurately predicting the future. Jo was a member of the Women of the Moose for 31 years. In 1984, she achieved the Academy of Friendship Degree. She was also Academy of Friendship chairman for many years. In 1997 and 1998, she was chosen co-worker of the year. In 1998, she also held the office of Treasurer. Jo was also a member of the Auxiliary of the Eagles because her role models, Eleanor Roosevelt and Bess Truman, were devoted to the organization. She is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Hazel and Edward Reagan of Pottstown, Pa., Carol and Eric Waleryszak of Exeter, N.H. and Joan Leaman and Robert Farley of Cape Elizabeth; a stepson, Robert Williams and his wife Debbie of Westbrook, a stepdaughter, Diane Dyer and her husband Skip of Freeport; grandchildren, Edward Reagan and wife Susan, Dolores Reagan and fiancé Frank Corretini, Seth Waleryszak and wife Avantika, Brandon Leaman-Farley and Jared Leaman-Farley, Brenda Dyer and son Shawn Couture, and Terry Crocker and husband, Steve. She is also survived by a brother, Felix Dorsey and his wife, Annette of Port Lavaca, Texas; and also several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husbands, she is predeceased by her brothers, Noble and Walter Gray; her grandson, Jeffrey Waleryszak; and her nephew, Roger Gray. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29, with a service by the Women of the Moose at 6:30 p.m. at Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Rd., South Portland. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Moose Charities 155 S.
