Troy Randall Smith, age 83, of Lula passed away on Friday, Jan. 30, 2009, at his residence following an extended illness. Born in Banks County on July 25, 1925, he was a son of the late William Sheldon and Thannie Cagle Smith. Mr. Smith was retired from Leece-Neville in Gainesville and was a member of the Belton Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters. Survivors include his wife, Jessie Wheeler Smith, Lula; sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry Randall and Judy W. Smith, Cornelia and Gregory Jearold and Crystal A. Smith, Lula; sister, Lucille Daisy Smith, Baldwin; grandchildren, Sabrina Smith McMullan and Jack McMullan, Clarkesville, William Alexander Smith, Annabell Grace Smith, both of Lula; and great-granddaughter, Madeline Claire McMullan, Clarkesville. Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, February 1, 2009, from Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin. The Rev. Robert Nix will officiate. Interment will follow in Belton Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Perry Smith officiating at the graveside. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
