WALTON, III, M.D., FACS, DR. THOMAS PEYTON, 85MacIntosh, FL - Dr. Thomas Peyton Walton, III, M. D., FACS went to be with the Lord on December 18, 2007. He was 85 years old. He was a faithful husband, loving father, and brave patriot. He and his wife, Marilyn, attended Community Presbyterian Church in McIntosh, FL. Peyton was a bible scholar and loved his Saturday morning men's bible study. He fought in WW II as a Second Lieutenant Bombardier. He and his crew were Missing in Action for 45 days when his plane was shot down behind Russian lines. They were transported across country by Russian soldiers to safety. He flew 23 sorties and was awarded many medals for his bravery and good conduct. After the war he resumed his medical studies at Tulane University. earning his M. D. in 1950. He was a prominent surgeon and surgical teacher at Tampa General Hospital for ten years. In 1970 he went to LSU University Medical Center, and was promoted to full Professor of Surgery in 1979. At retirement in 1985, he was promoted to Professor Emeritus. He loved God, family, country. He was known by all as a merciful, gentle and kind man. He was preceded in death by his first wife Marie Montgomery and daughter Sarah Lynn. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, son Thomas Peyton Walton, IV, and daughter, Jane. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, December 29, 2007 at 1:00 P. M., in the WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA CHAPEL, 823 NW 143rd Street, with Pastor James Walkup, officiating. interment will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Archer, Florida.
