LOUDONVILLE Thomas V. O'Hare, 78, of Loudonville and Boca Raton, Fla., passed away Saturday, March 11, 2006 at Albany Memorial Hospital after being stricken at his residence. Tom was born July 18, 1927 in Troy, son of the late Thomas G. and Elizabeth Peetz O'Hare. He was a graduate of Watervliet High School. He was a World War II U.S. Army Air Corp. veteran, serving as a corporal with the 548th Division in the European Theater. After the military, he married his beloved Marjorie Gaffers O'Hare in December 1950. He was predeceased by his wife, who died December 13, 2004. They were never apart in life and have once again joined each other. He was a communicant of St. Pius X Church in Loudonville. He owned and operated Gaffers Ice Cream, O'Hare's Frostop Drive-In Restaurant and Latham Driving Range in Latham during the 60s, 70s and early 80s. Most recently he was a principal and officer of Gaffers' Realty and B.E. & L., Inc. Previously he was an independent plumbing and heating contractor in the Capital Region. A life member of S.W. Pitts Hose Company in Latham and member for over 53 years and he served as president from 1957 until 1958 and chief from 1959 until 1965. He was a Latham resident for most of his life and one of the founding members of the Latham Area Business and Professional Association, which transcended into the Colonie Chamber of Commerce. Tom was a member of Wolferts Roost Country Club, Schuyler Meadows Country Club and a Charter Member of the Colonie Elks Lodge #2192. He was a member of the Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo, Fla. He and his late wife maintained a home in Boca Raton, Fla. for over 25 years. Survivors include his loving children Carolyn A. (Kerk) Moore of Latham and Deborah A. (Michael) Shea of El Paso, Texas; his cherished grandchildren, Jamie (Rita) Moore, Jeffrey Moore, Megan Shea and Robbie Shea; his brother, J. Donald O'Hare of Watervliet and several nieces and nephews. The family would to thank his caregivers for the attention, comfort and compassion they have offered. Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at 11:30 a.m. from the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham and at 12:30 p.m. in St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, 23 Crumitie Rd., Loudonville where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. Interment will be in Albany Rural Cemetery in Menands. Donations may be made to a charity of one's choice, with consideration to the Sisters of St. Joseph Provincial House or to St. Pius X Church in his memory.
