Thomas "TJ" Jackson III, 21, a lifelong native of St. Augustine, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007, at Shands Medical Center, Gainesville, Fla., after a year-long battle with cancer. TJ was a member of St. Benedict The Moor Catholic Church, St. Augustine. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, 2007, at St. Paul A.M.E. Church, 85 ML King Ave., with the Rev. Tony Hannah, officiating. Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007, at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine, 38 Cathedral Place, with the Rev. Tim Lindenfelser officiating.Dreams of a Lifetime Foundation for cancer patients has been established in his honor. Donations may be forwarded to 917 Chippewa St., St. Augustine, FL 32086.Both services will be facilitated by Leo C. Chase Funeral Home, 262 W. King St., St. Augustine, FL 32084.TJ was a 2003 graduate of St. Joseph Academy and attended Tusculum College, Greenville, Tenn., where he was a member of both football teams and also attended Florida Community College, Jacksonville, Fla.He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving parents, Thomas and Barbara Jackson; three sisters, Cerita (Ronald) Battles, Celina Turner (both Charlotte, N.C.) and Katie Jackson (St. Augustine); grandmother, Thomasena Jackson, (St. Augustine) aunts, Elaine Campbell, the Rev. Quida D. Smith (both of St. Augustine), Carol (Thomas) Curry (Tallahassee), Carolyn Jiminez (Ft. Lauderdale), Barbara (Timothy) Kennedy (Minneapolis, Minn.), Althea (David) Batie (Atlanta, Ga.), Jennifer Jackson (Tallahassee) and AJ Jackson (Jacksonville); uncles: Jonathan Jackson (St. Augustine), Anthony (Octavia) King (Miami), Christopher (Robin) Jackson (Jacksonville), John Jackson Jr. (Starksville, Miss.) and Charles (Tarsha) Hall (Korea); nephew/niece: Jordan Turner and Myka Battles (both Charlotte, N.C); godparents: Thomas and Jacqueline Bryant; and a host of family and friends. Burial will be in St. Augustine Memorial Park Saturday following the service.PAID NOTICE
