November 5, 2006 Thomas S. Duffy, III, of Naples, FL, passed away November 5, 2006. Born October 6, 1919 in Hartford, CT, he was the son of Ethel (nee Bean) and Thomas S. Duffy, II. Tom attended Syracuse University in Syracuse, NY, graduating in 1943. During WWII he served in the Pacific Theatre as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy. Following the war, Tom CLOBFLAGreturned to Syracuse, NY and in 1947 founded the Tom Duffy Travel Service. A successful and highly regarded businessman and a member of The American Society of Travel Agents, Tom's agency became the 10th largest travel agency in the United States. After retiring to Naples, FL in the late '70's, Tom worked as a real estate agent and was active in the local community. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Cavaliers, as well as the local chapter of the Gyro Club. Tom is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Martha E. (nee Benton) Duffy; his daughter, Candace D. Weaver of Naples, FL; son, Roger Duffy of Homer, NY; granddaughter, Leisl Miller of Smithsburg, MD; grandson, Jason Weaver of Fayetteville, NC; and great-grandsons, Preston, Paul, Colin, and Brady. At the family's request, no services will be held. Inurnment will be private. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Rescue Mission of Syracuse.
