November 9, 2012 Thomas P. Casey, 85, of Syracuse, died November 9, 2012. He was born in Syracuse and graduated from St. Patrick's High School. He retired from Solvay Process Company after 37 years of service and served in the U.S. Army. Thomas was predeceased by his wife, Joyce, in 1997; his brother, Jack, in 2005; and his parents, Leonard A. and Delia McNamara Casey. He is survived by his son, Paul (Dulce Fernandez) of Syracuse; his daughters, Kim Turo (Thomas) of Fayetteville and Joy Casey (Peter Knoblock) of Syracuse; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Arlene; and three nieces and nephews. In Tom's hospital chart, it said he was a strong, independent and stubborn Irishman. That is true. He was also the kindest, greatest and most thoughtful gentleman that you could wish to meet. God bless you, Dad. Services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Edward J. Ryan & Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave., and 11 a.m. at St. Michael-St. Peter Church. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
