Decatur<!--Decatur-->Funeral for Thomas "Tommy" M. Gunn III, 56, of Decatur will be Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at 3 p.m. at Westmeade Baptist Church with the Rev. Scotty Hogan and the Rev. Donald Terry officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home. Mr. Gunn, who died Monday, March 23, 2009, at Parkway Medical Center, was born Dec. 6, 1952, in Portsmouth, Va., to Thomas M. Gunn Jr. and Ila Dean Gunn. He retired as a Decatur Police Officer after 20 years of service. He was a member of Westmeade Baptist Church where he sang in the choir. He was preceded in death by his father; sister, Sandra Ellen Gunn; and daughter, Mary Elizabeth Gunn. Survivors include his wife of nine years, Delane Gunn; daughter, Kayla Harrell of Decatur; three sons, Benjamin Gunn of Decatur, Stephen Gunn of Hershey, Pa., and Austin Harrell of Decatur; mother, Ila Dean Gunn of Decatur; sister, Jo Gunn Peterson of Dothan; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Geronimo Collier, Jay Keen, Braden Starnes, Richie Brannum, Barry Cook and Gene Hart. Honorary pallbearers will be P.J. Keen and Kevin Durrah. Memorials may be made to the Cancer Institute.
