HANLEY Hanley, Col. Thomas J., III, USAF Ret. went to be with The Lord on August 26, 2002. Tom was born on June 4, 1918 in Ft. Worth, TX. He was the son of Maj. Gen. Thomas J. and Cecelia Hanley, formerly of Boca Raton and grew up at numerous Air Force bases around the world. Tom graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 1942 where he met and married the love at his life Elma Evans. He served his country for the next 30 years, including WWII in which he flew B-29 bombers over Japan. After retirement Tom and Elma settled in San Antonio, TX where be volunteered for many organizations, including Santa RosaChildren's Hospital and Air Force Village. Elma passed away in May, 2000 and Tom relocated to Florida to be near his family. Tom is survived by his sister Cecile Hanley McAlpine (William), nieces and nephews, Mary McAlpine Diaz (Pedro), Brian Hanley McAlpine, Julie Cecile McAlpine (Mark Civetti), and great-niece and nephew, Luci and Brandon Civetti. Mass of the Resurrection will be hold at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 9950 NW 29 Street, in Coral Springs, FL at 10:00 am on Thursday, August 29, 2002. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be sent to the Alzheimer's Association of Broward County.
