LACONIA ; Thomas Henry Elliott II, 56, of 4 Lincoln St., died on Saturday July 19, 2008, at his home. He fought a brave battle with pancreatic cancer and died peacefully."His strength, dignity and grace in the face of the daunting challenges of this disease were an inspiration to all who knew him."Tom was born in Laconia on Feb. 20, 1952, the son of the late Thomas H. Elliott and Jean (Wing) Elliott.Tom was raised in Laconia and honorably served his country. He was an Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. He was the manager of Timberlake Apartments in Laconia and later was a real estate broker.Tom was a 22 year member of Bill Wilson's Friends and was a member of the Belmont Original Group. He was an avid master chess player for 38 years. He went to many tournaments, was a tournament director and also taught chess at the Belknap House of Corrections. He loved fishing and backgammon.Tom is survived by his wife, Linda (Dunbar) Elliott, of Laconia; four children, Brett Franks of Raleigh, N.C., Tommy Elliott III of Taunton, Mass., Vanessa Elliott and Patrick Elliott, both of Laconia; one grandchild, Mason Elliott, of Laconia; his sister, Priscilla Carter, of Laconia; two nephews, Shawn Carter and Tim Carter, both of Laconia; a niece, Kelley McGray and her husband, John McGray III, of Center Harbor; and an aunt and uncle, Rodney and Jenny Wing, of Jacksonville, Fla.There will be no calling hours.
