Casey, Thomas E. TROY Thomas E. Casey, 76, of Troy, retired captain of the Troy Fire Department, passed into eternal life Friday afternoon, June 29, 2007 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Born in Troy, Tom was the son of the late Fred and Elizabeth Kennedy Casey. When Tom achieved the rank of captain, he also became acting battalion chief. Tom retired in 1984 after 25 years in the department. He was a Korean War veteran serving in the Navy from 1948 until 1952. Tom was the owner of the former Casey's South Tavern. He was a member of the Retired Firefighter's Association, a member of the former Petty Officers Club and a member of the Veterans Club in Lansing-burgh. He was also a communicant of St. Joseph's Church of Troy. Tom is survived by his sister, Lynne Gould of Troy. He is also survived by his children, Beth Muller, Annmarie Tracey (Stephen Mamone), Lt. Thomas J. Casey of the TFD and his wife Annmarie and Maryann Casey, all of Troy. Tom is also survived by his former wife and dear friend, Edith Casey; and was predeceased by his longtime companion Theresa M. Dix. He was a loving grandfather and great-grand-father to his 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was brother of the late James and Fred Casey. The funeral for Tom will be held Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. from the Wm. Leahy Funeral Home, 336 Third Street, Troy and at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may call at the funeral home Monday from 4-8 p.m. The Troy Fire Department will hold a firefighters memorial service Monday evening at 7:00 and there will be an honor guard from the department. Interment will follow in Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery with full military honors. Contributions in Tom's memory to the American Heart Association would be appreciated.
