Therese Margaret Murphy 05/24/1927 - 11/21/2015 Born May 24, 1927. Died peacefully November 21, 2015. Cherished sister of Basil Murphy. Was preceded in death by brothers Kevin and Joe. Devoted mother to her children Mike Kelly (Georgie Binks), Mary Delorme (Rick Delorme), Pete Kelly (Cheryl Kelly), Greg Kelly (Judy Hardwick), and Paul Kelly (Christina Weinzierl). Fondly remembered by her grandchildren Davis and Aubrie Kelly and their mother Tricia, Shannon (Jamie Jenkins) and Karen Delorme, Angela, Kevin (Tara), Cory and Christina Kelly, Charlie, Sheena and Abby Hardwick-Kelly and her great-grandchildren Ava, Brynn and Cade Jenkins, and Caleb Kelly.Therese was born in Dundalk, Ontario. She grew up there and in Toronto. Therese moved to Preston (Ont.) to start her family and lived there and in St. Agatha (Ont.) before settling in Ottawa. Therese attended Carleton University and Ottawa Teacher's College. She taught at schools in Ottawa, and Red Rock and Beardmore in Northern Ontario. She liked to travel, spent many happy years in Sault Ste. Marie and Palm Springs, California. She loved her dogs dearly, all of whom she named Tippy or Pinto. She took great delight in watching her children and grandchildren grow and thrive, but her family lost her far too soon to Alzheimer's. A special thanks to the staff at the Villa Marconi who showed her great kindness and compassion.A funeral mass will be held December 9, 2015 at 1 p.m. at St. Augustine's Church, 1060 Baseline Road (at Merivale), followed by a traditional Irish wake at the church hall.Donations can be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Society or Villa Marconi.
