Theresa Elaine Brown Martin TRENTON - Theresa Elaine Brown Martin entered this life on July 13, 1942, at Mercer Hospital in Trenton, NJ and departed this life on Jan. 22, 2013. Her parents were Alice Betty Lee Chambers Brown and Walter Franklin Brown. She was a graduate of Hightstown High School, received her B.S. in business education from Wilberforce University and her M.A. in business education from Rider University. She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. She participated in the Civil Rights March from Selma to Montgomery. For 28 years, she was a business teacher at Hightstown High School and retired as program coordinator in 2006. Elaine was a lifetime member of St. James A.M.E. Church, Hightstown, and also attended Mount Zion A.M.E. Church in Bordentown and First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens. She leaves to mourn their loss two daughters, Joslyn Stewart of Silver Spring, MD and Janean (Derrick) Davis of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania; one son, James E. Martin Jr. of Cambridge, MA; two granddaughters, Aniya and Faith Davis; one brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Julia Brown of Willingboro, NJ; many Godchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. The viewings will be held on Friday, Jan. 22, from 6 to 8 p.m., and on Saturday, Jan. 23, from 9 to 11 a.m. The homegoing service will be on Saturday, Jan. 23 at 11 a.m. All services will take place at Mount Olivet Baptist Church in Hightstown. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the "Elaine B. Martin Memorial Scholarship." Donations can be sent to 143 Hickory Corner Rd., East Windsor, NJ, 08520.
