Thelma-Mae Jones, née en 1922, fille de Charles et Hattie-Lou-Finch, est décédée le 18 octobre 2003 à l'âge de 81 ans.
JONES, Thelma Mae (Jonesy), 81, a retired educator and resident of Montgomery, AL, died suddenly October 18, 2003 at her home. Miss Jones was born in West Point, GA, the daughter of Charles Lee and Hattie Lou Finch Jones. She was a graduate of West Point High School, West Point, GA, and Alabama Col-lege for Women at Montevallo. She received her Master's degree from the University of Alabama. In 1944 she began a long and disting-uished career as an educator in Montgomery County at Cottage Hill School. She served as Alabama's youngest principal at Decatur St. School. She also served as princip-al of Goode St. She moved on to Montgomery County Board of Edu-cation where she was Superinten-dent of Attendance. She moved to the Alabama State Department of Education from which she retired in 1979.She was a communicant of the The Church of the Holy Comforter where she served as a member of the vestry.She is survived by her nieces, Bon-nie Higginbotham Hodges, North Augusta, SC and Dr. Nancy Luann Higginbotham Wheat of Memphis, TN. Other survivors include cousins Betty Dennis Roy and Harold F. Her-ring and her beloved caregivers, Debbie and Paul Berlin. Services will be held at graveside Wednesday, October 22, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. with visitation with the family at 2:00 p.m. at Leak-Memory Chapel. The Reverend Dr. Roy Elam of Dauphin Island, Alabama will of-ficiate.
