Mother Thelma Gloria DavisHartselleFuneral for Mother Thelma Gloria Williams Davis, 74 of Hartselle will be 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 28, 2012, at Hartselle First Missionary Baptist Church with the Reverend Leo Fuqua Jr. officiating and interment to follow in Hartselle Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes prior to funeral service. Visitation will be this evening from 5 to 6 at Reynolds Funeral Home.Life began for Mother Gloria Williams Davis on April 20, 1938. She was born to the late Shelvie Earl Williams, Sr. and Knewtie Bell in Hartselle. She received her wings on October 25, 2012, at Decatur Morgan Hospital-Decatur Campus.Gloria attended the Morgan County Training School which was located in Hartselle.She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Hartselle First M.B. Church. She moved to Chicago, Illinois and was married to Leo Jackson. To this union one son, David Earl Jackson was born. While in Chicago, she joined Carter Temple Methodist Church. She was employed by the Union Health Services. After moving to Decatur, she was joined in holy matrimony to the late Joe Davis, Jr., and joined Minor Hill M.B. Church in Flint, Alabama. She was very dedicated and faithful member of the church, serving as a Mother.Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sisters; Shirley Marie Love, Carolyn Sue Williams and Barbara Ruth Davis; and brother, Shelvie Williams, Jr.She leaves to cherish her memory: a son, David Earl Jackson (Sommatra), Chicago, IL; four step-daughters, Nannette Morrow, Regina Owens (Charles), Valerie Smith (Coynis) all of Decatur, and Valerie Gibson (Sam) of Huntsville; sister, Charlene Miller of Cleveland, OH; brothers, Don Wayne Williams (Sandra) of Locust Grove, GA and Larry Williams (Carolyn), Tanner; aunts, Gertrude Bell, Birmingham and Charlie Pearl Burton (Eddie), Cleveland, OH; six grandchildren, Kevin Sample, David Jackson, Jr., Da'Vonte Jackson (Lebia), Bruce E. Davis Jr., (Michelle), Kalente Jackson and Justin Jackson; three great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Edith Williams, Dessie McCarnes and Mable Davis; brothers-in-law, Bruce Davis and Clarence Davis, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
