Thelma-Elvira Harris, née en 1928, conjointe de William-Edward Harris, fille de Emma-Jane, mère de Constance Raye, est décédée à l'âge de 79 ans. Veuillez consulter son avis de décès ici:
HARRIS, Thelma Elvira Age 79 of Brentwood, TN. "She is clothed in dignity and power and can afford to laugh at tomorrow. When she opens her mouth, it is to speak wisely, and loyalty is the theme of her teaching. . . Many a woman shows how capable she is; but you excel them all. . . it is the God fearing woman who is honoured. Extol her for the fruit of all her toil, and let her labours bring her honour in the city gate." (Excerpts from Proverbs 31). Thelma Harris was born December 29, 1928 in Pennsylvania, and passed peacefully from this life March 9, 2008. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, William Edward Harris; her mother, Emma Jane Younkin; her sisters, Carol and Shirley; and her brother, Phillip. She leaves behind her daughter, Constance Raye Dickerson (James); three grandchildren, Ashley Hicks (David), Chelsey Shearer (Todd) and Bradley Dickerson (Amy); seven great-grandchildren, Ellen, Caroline, Anne, Will, J.D., Braden and Carter; and brothers, Robert and David (Conchita); and many, many nieces and nephews. She was a member of Brentwood Baptist Church and was active in her Sunday School Class, The Joy Class, until disabilities made it difficult for her to participate. She was so very grateful to her class for their constant care and loving support. She worked both outside and inside the home, but it is in the home where her family especially remembers her with love, laughter and admiration. Among a myriad of accomplishments, she raised a garden and canned wonderful vegetables for the whole family. Her chocolate icing was the best. At Thanksgiving, everyone was thankful that she hosted the dinner! She lovingly made her daughter's clothes, and attended and supported every activity her daughter chose. At various times in her life, she was secretary of the PTA, a Girl Scout Leader, and a voting precinct official. She held several offices in her Sunday School class. She always believed the best of everyone and had complete hope in the future. Ever generous, she gave of herself completely and loved with all her heart, her family, her God, and her country. Having survived the coal mines of her youth in Pennsylvania, she cared for her mother, brothers, sisters, her daughter, her grandchildren, and her husband with love, and helped to provide them with opportunities she never had, and rejoiced when success was found by one of them. She loved to travel and struck up friendly conversation with everyone she met around the world. Most of all, she was a woman of honor, faith, and dignity. Her family extends heartfelt thankfulness to the Doctors and Nurses of Williamson Medical Center, Dr. Caprio, Dr. Klekamp, friends, Brentwood Baptist Church, and family members who were with her until she went to Heaven. Funeral services will be conducted by Dr. Michael L. Glenn of Brentwood Baptist Church, at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at Woodbine Funeral Home, HICKORY CHAPEL, 5852 Nolensville Road. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery, conducted by John Robert Younkin. She will rest between her husband and her mother.
