He was born in Stony Knob, NC on August 8, 1919, to the late Roy and Ethel Bradley Morris. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Gill Morris; his second wife, Ola M. Gammon Morris; son, Charlie Morris; grandson, Curtis Morris; and his brothers, Charles Morris, William "Bill" Morris, Joe Morris, Thomas Morris, Robert Morris, and Gene Morris. He retired from A&P Food Stores after 38 years. He was a member of Piney Flats Presbyterian Church and of the M.M. Martin Lodge #0547 in Piney Flats. Thad is survived by his loving wife, Norma Edwards Morris; son, Randy Morris and wife Phyllis, of Bristol, VA; granddaughter, Teresa White and husband Phillip, of Kingsport, TN; grandson, Tim Morris, of Piney Flats, TN; great-granddaughters, Grayson White, of Kingsport, TN and Heather Morris, of White Pine, TN; two great-great grandsons; sister, Louise Garrison; brothers, Jim Morris and wife Lorraine, of Weaverville, NC, and Bert Morris, of Charleston, WV; step-son, Harvey Edwards Jr. and wife Sharon, of Dover, DE; step-daughters, Jan Detrick, of Bristol, TN, Melinda Kosarko and husband Alex, of Terre Haute, IN, and Jeanie Vandeventer and husband Steve, of Plainfield, IN; step-grandchildren, Robin Yorg, Jay Detrick, Barbara Stock, Anna Marie Wardell, Kristine Virostko, Julie Kosarko, Corey Pursch, Ryan Pursch, Todd Edwards, and Daniel Edwards; 16 step-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Oakley-Cook Funeral Home. The memorial service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Dr. Robert Rainwater officiating. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Thad's caregivers: Faye Owens, Pam Taylor, Dr. Jonathan Dixon, and Melinda, Janice, and the rest of the staff at Wellmont Hospice House for their care and support.
