LAFAYETTE - Funeral services for Terry James Melancon will be held Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005, celebrated by a 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist. Mr. Melancon, 55, passed away at Lafayette General Medical Center on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005.The Rev. Keith J. DeRouen, pastor of The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, will be celebrant of the Mass and conduct the funeral services. Con-celebrant will be the Rev. O. Joseph Breaux, pastor of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Maurice.Terry "T.J." Melancon was known as the most loving, giving, caring and compassionate man that many have ever known. He was a loyal and dedicated member of Acadiana Computer systems for 32 years and was serving as the company's Chief Financial Officer at the time of his death.Mr. Melancon, the son of Simon Melancon and the former Beatrice Brasseaux, was a native of Breaux Bridge and a resident of Lafayette.Survivors include his wife, Carol Ann Melancon, of Lafayette; his parents, Simon and Beatrice Melancon, of Breaux Bridge; daughter, Duffie Clavier and husband, Jody, of Breaux Bridge; son, Brit Melancon and wife, Nicole, of Breaux Bridge; step-son, Justin Breaux, of Lafayette; and daughter, Kristin Michelle Melancon, of Lafayette; grandchildren, Cassidy Melancon, Jani Clavier, Caelan Melancon and Andrew Clavier; brother, David Melancon and wife, Jane; sister, Jackie Boudreaux and husband, Dale; brother, Dean Melancon and wife, Missy; brother, Neil Melancon and wife, Jennifer; and sister, Donnell Angelle and husband, Guy; mother-in-law, Renella O. Matthieu; father-in-law, Carrol Matthieu and wife, Lynnelle; sisters-in-law, Suzanne Webre and husband Earl, Vicky LeBlanc and husband Rickey; and ten loving nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by infant twin sons, Robbie Anthony and Ryan Michael Melancon.Visiting hours were observed from 1 p.m. until 10 p.m. Monday and will continue from 8 a.m. today until the time of services.A rosary was prayed at 6 p.m. Monday.Pallbearers will be Dean Melancon, David Melancon, Dale Boudreaux, Guy Angelle, Roy Arwood and John Breaux Jr.Honorary pallbearers will be Neal Melancon, Rickey LeBlanc, William Trahan, Logan LeBlanc, Richard Melebeck Jr. and Louis Dumont.The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Jeff Budden for the endless commitment and devotion shown during this time.
