->SIDNEY -- Teresa Ryan Davis, 80, of Juniper Lane South went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Aug. 10, 2006, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Thayer Campus, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. She was surrounded by family at the time of her passing.She was born in Brewer on Dec. 5, 1925, the daughter of the late William J. and Thelma (Ryan) Ryan.Mrs. Davis was a graduate of Bangor High School and attended many of her high school reunions.She was employed by the Western Union during World War II in Washington, D.C., where she met her dear friend, Velma Sanders of Spearman, Texas, whom she still kept in touch with until her death. Mrs. Davis was also the secretary to the commissioner of finance for the state of Maine in the 1940s to 1950s.She is survived by her husband, Vernon "Bud" Davis of Sidney; a son, Craig Davis and his wife, Susan, of Keene, N.H.; a daughter, Ann Davis of Sidney; a brother, John T. Barrows of Portland; a sister, Nancy B. Spencer and her husband, William, of Bangor; two nieces, a nephew, two great-nieces, two great-nephews and several cousins.There will be no public visiting hours. Burial and committal prayers will be held at noon on Friday, Aug. 18, in the Chapel at the new Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta. Following the service at the cemetery there will be a memorial gathering at Elim Christian Fellowship, 70 State St., Augusta.The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of MaineGeneral Medical Center, Thayer, 3 North; HealthReach Hospice nurses, staff and volunteers and Dr. Diane Campbell for the great care they gave our wife and mother during her final days.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Elim Christian Fellowship, 70 State St., Augusta, ME 04330, or the Waterville Area Humane Society, 120 Drummond Ave., Waterville, ME 04901.Arrangements are under the direction of Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta.
