Tammy Ann NelsonDecaturTammy Ann Nelson, daughter of Judith A. Nelson and the late Gerald R. Nelson of Howard, Wis., passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 4, 2012, in Decatur where she resided with her significant other, Michael Hale. She was born September 7, 1964, in Groton, Conn., where her dad was stationed with the U.S. Navy.Tammy was a 1982 graduate of Menominee High School, Menominee, Minn., and currently was employed by Hospice of the Valley, Decatur. She was a loving and nurturing person who will be missed terribly by her family and many friends, as well as her furry companions, her dog, Casper, and cats, Frank and Charley.She is further survived by her sister, Kathleen Neumeier of Howard, Wis., and Kathleen's daughter, Stephanie, Tammy's goddaughter, who attends UW-Whitewater and her brother, Tim Nelson (Kirsten) of Davenport, Iowa, and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She is also survived by Mike's family, Cora Hale, Rodney Hale, Chris Hale; her best friends, Bonnie Hargett and Rick and Diane Allen.A memorial service will be held at Hospice of the Valley, Decatur, today, April 9, 2012, at 4 p.m.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley, Decatur, or the Decatur Animal Shelter in Tammy's name.
