Timothy P. Manning, a resident of Blauvelt since 1965, died at home on October 11, 2008. He was born in Washington Heights to Timothy J. and Mary Kenny Manning on July 4, 1937. Timothy was a graduate of the Cardinal Hayes High School Class of 1955 and went on to graduate from Fordham University with a B.A. in Social Science in 1976. He served in the US Army from 1956 to 1958 in Germany. In 1982, he retired from the New York City Police Department (44th Precinct) after 20 years of service. Timothy was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 608 in New York City and retired from the corporate headquarters of A&P, Inc. in 2001. He was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and the American Legion Post No. 329, both of Pearl River, and a parishioner of the Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel in Orangeburg. Timothy was an avid golfer and member of the Planet Fitness Gym. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Patricia (nee Rooney); his children, Timothy J. Manning and his wife Patti of Florida, Carolyn Ryan of Garnerville and Matthew Manning of Blauvelt; his grandchildren, Christopher, Ashley, Lauren, Dana Ryan and Amanda and Timmy Manning; his sisters, Marie Cartwright of Riverdale, Sheila Seelke and her husband Kurt of Croton-on-Hudson; and his brothers, Cornelius Manning and his wife Carol of Pennsylvania and Patrick Manning of New York City. Timothy was predeceased by his sister, the late Eileen Chitty. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, 11 am, at the Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel in Orangeburg with burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Trumbull, CT.
