Thomas W. Travers, age 82, of West Harwich, MA and formerly of Dobbs Ferry and Riverdale, NY, veteran of WWII and active in the Knights of Columbus, died February 27th, 2010 at Broad Reach Rehabilitation Center in Chatham, MA. Travers was born in Yonkers, NY and lived in the Bronx, attending PS 86 and Power Memorial High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and was proprietor of Progress Radio and TV on Broadway in Kingsbridge for nearly 40 years. He served as president of the Kingsbridge, Riverdale, Marble Hill Chamber of Commerce from 1971 - 1986, and was coordinator of the Kingsbridge Van Cortland Park Development Corporation until 1988. Travers moved to Cape Cod in 1989 and established Advanced Water Systems, a water treatment company. He was active in the Knights of Columbus for over four decades, serving as Grand Knight of the Pope Paul VI chapter from 2003 - 2008. His interests included music, reading and family genealogy. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; three daughters, Barbara Nelsen of Altamonte Springs, FL; Susan Dennen of Sandy Hook, CT; and Lynn Travers of Hastings - on - Hudson, NY, and one son, Joseph Travers of New York City.
