Thomas McCormack, age 94, of Holly Hill, was called home to our Lord on Thursday, December 29, 2011. A Memorial Mass in his honor will be held at 10:00am on Monday, January 9, 2012 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 600 S. Nova Rd., Ormond Beach, he will be laid to rest at Sea. Thomas was born on October 15, 1917 in New York City to the late William and Mary McCormack. At the outbreak of World War II Thomas joined the United States Army Air Corps as a Pilot, and served in World War II and the Korean War. He worked for the Federal Aviation Administration as an Air Traffic Controller and retired from the FAA Headquarters in Washington D.C. Thomas and his late wife Elizabeth came to the Daytona Beach area about 25 years ago and were parishioners of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed golf in his spare time. Thomas is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years Elizabeth McCormack, and leaves behind to cherish his memory his four sons: Thomas McCormack, Jr., James McCormack, Patrick McCormack, and his wife, Judith and Daniel McCormack and his wife, Carolyn; four grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.
