THOMAS D. COOLEY KOUTS, IN Thomas D. Cooley, 54, of Kouts, IN, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 7, 2013 at Porter Regional Hospital. He was born December 10, 1958, in Gary, to Samuel and Ruby (Whetstone) Cooley. Thomas retired from Furnace Services, Hammond, IN, in 2006 after twenty-six years of service. He enjoyed fishing, camping, archery and working outdoors. Thomas was very active with the local Boy Scouts. He was first involved with Boy Scouts as a young boy and earned Eagle Scout. Thomas worked with the Hebron Troop 926 and then moved on to work with the Kouts Troop 923. He served as the committee chairperson and the archery and fishing merit badge counselor with Kouts Troop 923. Thomas was very devoted to his family and will be greatly missed by all. Surviving are one brother, Donald (Susan) Cooley of Valparaiso; one sister, Deborah (Martin) Camp of Kouts; four nephews: Shawn (Melissa) Cooley, Bryan Cooley, Martin Camp, Jr. and Aaron Camp; and one niece, Samantha Camp. Preceding in death were his parents; and one brother, Phillip Cooley. A visitation and viewing will be from 11:00 - 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte, IN 46350, (219) 362-3100. Cremation will take place. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso at a later date.
