THERESE M. BOURGEOIS - WINOOSKI - Therese M. Bourgeois, 78, a longtime resident of Winooski, died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, in the Vermont Respite House in Williston following a long illness. Therese was born in Colchester on Dec. 6, 1935, the daughter of Onesiphore and Laurana (Soutiere) Thibault, and was educated at Winooski schools. Therese was married in Winooski at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church on Aug. 9, 1958, to Joseph R. Bourgeois. She was formerly employed at Saga Foods in Burlington, and retired as a homemaker and daycare provider for numerous families. After retirement, she kept busy with distributing the Eucharist to various area nursing homes with her friend Sr. Amelia and enjoyed spending time with all her friends at Our Lady of Providence. Therese was a member of St. Jean Baptiste, and Saint Anne's. She was also involved with the Winooski Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, while her husband was in the Winooski Fire Department until his retirement. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, as well as her many extended family and friends. Therese is survived by her six children, Francine Kirby and husband, Jim Kirby Jr., and their daughter, Tanya; Jerome Bourgeois and his son, Anthony; Gabrielle Burbo and husband, Tony, and their children, Britany, Anthony, and Bethany; Patrice Bourgeois and wife, Cindy, and their son, Andrew; Colette LaChance and husband, David, and their children, Chris, Greg, Michael, Brigitte, and Matthew; and Jean Pierre Bourgeois and wife, Maria, and their children, Jordan, Michael, Meghann, and Joshua; and five great-grandchildren, Tanner Bourgeois, Ethan and Jackson Coates, and Hayliee and Ryleigh Careau. Therese is also survived by her sister and brothers, Edmond Thibault, Raymond Thibault and wife, Gloria, Robert Thibault and wife, Yvonne, Jeannette and husband, Dick Blow, Leonard Thibault and wife, Dot, Romeo Thibault and wife, Monica; sister-in-law, Brenda Thibault; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. Besides her husband, Joseph, of 51 years, she was predeceased by her twin sons, Francois and Francis; sister and brother, Sylva Thibault and Aline Bernard. Special thanks to Vermont Respite House for their excellent end of life care, Home Instead Senior Care, Deb Smith, Dr. Alicia Jacobs and anyone else involved in her medical care. Per her wishes there will not be any visiting hours. Arrangements are by LaVigne Funeral Home and Cremation, 132 Main St. in Winooski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Winooski. Interment will follow at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.
