T. Keith Allen T. Keith Allen, age 79, passed away Friday, October 19, 2006 in his home. Friends may visit on Sunday, October 22, 2006 from 2-5 p.m. at the Burns-Kish Funeral Home, 8415 Calumet Ave., Munster. Services will follow visitation at Burns-Kish. Burial will be private. Survivors include his three children: Tom Allen (Paula) of Highland, Scott Allen (Lori of Munster and Mary Allen Meisterling (Dick) of Cedar Rapids, IA; eight grandchildren: Paul Middleton, Keith (Madeline) and Kevin Allen, Larry and Jennifer Allen, Bob, Brad and Angela Meisterling; great-grandsons Killian and Dominic Allen, Jacob Middleton; brother Philip Allen (Lillian); sister-in-law Joann (Rod) Jago of Bowie of Maryland; several nephews and a niece. He was preceded in death by his parents Ellis and Lesle; loving wife of 54 years Loyola "Lee", his sister Roberta Allen McBride and his brother Eugene. Keith was born May 13, 1927 in Circleville, Kansas to Ellis and Lesle Allen. After graduating high school, Keith entered the Army and became a staff sergeant, serving his country in the Korean War. He attended and graduated from George Washington University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. After marrying in 1949, he moved to the Calumet area and finally settled in Munster where he and his wife raised their family and actively participated in the community's civic and cultural developments for the next 50 years. His professional career spanned the course of over forty years with Standard Oil of America in a variety of capacities. Keith was dedicated to improving the community and served on the Munster Planning Commission for over 20 years during which time he was recognized for outstanding service to his community, named "Man of the Year" and was cited for his integrity and dedication to high standards and professionalism. His retirement years were spent traveling the world with his wife and spending time with his family. Keith Allen was a humble, reserved man with uncompromising principles and resolve. He was a caring father, husband, grandfather, brother, community member and friend, and will be sadly missed. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a contribution be made in his name and memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
