Quincy Sybil I. (Pamplin) Whyte, age 92, died peacefully at her home on April 19, 2008, under the care of Old Colony Hospice. Born on May 10, 1915, in Croyden, England. She immigrated to the United States in 1921 with her parents, the late Edgar and Clara (Walker) Pamplin, and her brother, the late Clifford Pamplin. Mrs. Whyte graduated from Quincy High School, Class of 1932. She was employed at the John Hancock Insurance Company, as secretary of the Adams Shore EUB Church, as legal secretary to Dr. Emma S. Tousant, Esq., and also worked at the law offices of Jackson & Sutherland, Quincy. Mrs. Whyte was a volunteer with the Easter Seals Swim Program, the Swim with a Special Child Program. She enjoyed knitting and made lap robes for the Veterans Administration and the Parent-to-Parent Program. She was also a long and active member of the Quincy Community United Methodist Church, and participated for many years in Quincys Senior Olympics. She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband, the late John G. Whyte. Mrs. Whyte is survived by her loving children, Deborah J. Reardon and her husband John of Mashpee, MA and Donna M. Costa and her husband Richard, of South Easton, MA. Also, by 5 devoted grandchildren, Susan, John Jr., Paul, Michelle and David, 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 17 at 11 a.m. in the Quincy Community United Methodist Church, 40 Beale Street, Wollaston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Whytes memory to the Memorial Fund of the Quincy Community or the Swim with a Special Child Program, c/o Mary Johnson, 33 Hamden Circle, Wollaston, MA 02170; or to the charity of ones choice.
